Find The Fakes
Safety & Accuracy
Photo matching is useful, but it is only one part of checking whether a person or story is genuine.
A match is a clue
A matching photo may show that an image appears under another name or in another context. Open the source and compare details carefully. A legitimate person’s photo can also appear on public websites.
No match is not an all-clear
A photo may be new, private, cropped, altered, generated, or unavailable to the search provider. “No strong match found” does not prove that a person is genuine or safe.
Protect yourself
- Do not send money, gift cards, cryptocurrency, banking codes, or identification because someone pressures you.
- Speak by live video and verify important details independently.
- Ask a trusted friend or family member to review the situation.
- Contact your bank immediately if money may have been sent to a fraudster.
- Contact emergency services if you or someone else is in immediate danger.
Not a background check
Find The Fakes does not search criminal, credit, employment, immigration, or government identity records. It is not designed for employment, housing, lending, insurance, legal, or other high-stakes eligibility decisions.
